Potamotrygon ‘red flower Caqueta’

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey guys, thought I would post on this one.... I currently have one that is jus about 19 cm across. She came in super thin. Tried red wigglers... no dice. Black worms... yeh. Hit on those. While not hammering them, she does graze on them throughout the day. She goes through about 6 to 8 ounces a day. Tried grass shrimp and she just chewed them up and spit them out. Havent tried fish yet.... Beautiful fish. Been giving her large water changes and I keep introducing more black worms as the supply on the bottom of the tank dwindles. Keeping my fingers crossed!

keep feeding her black worms. will take a good 3 - 4 weeks till she starts to fatten up. may have internal bugs that are keeping her thin. can so see spiral shaped poops? can you get one of those under a microscope?

Hi I had a pair and totally agree with aquaman45. They are nice looking and are mature at a much smaller size. They are very picky eaters and my pair both stopped eating and died within 2 days of each other for no reason. Here are some pics

The underside is totally different from a normal retic:-

Note the very skinny belly. This one would only eat live fish. You can also see the fully developed claspers.

These are nice rays but be prepared for a challenge.

treat the the same as retics.... they tend to breed at very small size and also are said to stay very small as well...

Great shot of the underside Nikki, huge claspers at only 15cm disc, patterned underside, and so difficult to acclimatise proves this is indeed a species in its own right!
Thanks for showing, real shame they didnt make it!
