DavidW would know better than anyone.. hes a huge castexi fan.
As far as all of the variants and the variant names of the castexi.. I don't think anyone knows 100% for sure. I imported every castexi variant from Peru that was available. Funny part is the exporters seldom label the boxes of these castexi variants, and the collectors they get the fish from don't label the boxes either.
So the fishermen give a castexi a variant name (otorongo, star, motello, tortoise, hawiana, flower, tigrillo, mosaic, etc).. Then the fishermen send the castexi off to the collector, who may or may not ID them properly or re-ID them to whatever they feel like they are. Then they don't label them and ship them off to the exporter, that names them whatever he may or may not think they are.. Then off to another country, un-labeled, and up to the Importer to re-ID them and give them their castexi variant name.
Bottom line; I don't think anyone knows what they are talking about.
It's a castexi, treat it like one. Patterns will vary greatly, wild hybrids are very possible, and the name could of been jumbled at many different points.
So why do we care if it's Tigrillo or not? Does that increase it's value being labeled 'Tigrillo' .. If it makes you feel better, we can call it Tigrillo, because in actuality no one has any damn clue.
