what is the min tank for one Potamotrygon hystrix and they ere the smallest ray right? Are they easy to get in the uk and does anybody know how munch they cost?

thanks

the true hystrix is from brazil and is banned from export so you would only be able to get the peru version, as for tank size personally i would be thinking of a 84"x30"24" for a long and happy life, you could get a away with a smaller tank but if you have the space then go as big as possible.

true Hystrix are near impossible to find, unless you find a breeder (of which i think there is only one in the U.K) or someone who dosent realise that they are banned and sell's you it cheap.

Retic's are a small sp but you are still going to need a 6'x2'x2' for them, what size tank are you thinking?

i have been researhing on the web about hystrix and some internet website you can keep a hystrix in a 4ft x 2.5ft x 2ft tank

what are the grow rate

depends on you water quality and feeding, and the size of the tank. but you are talking about a ray that is going to get 14"+ so i think that a 4'x2.5'x2' is too small, thats only 124 uk gallons. Ray's need good water quality and you are going to need very good filtration to keep your water good once the ray starts growing. Its ok for a small ray but if you dont upgrade once it get's to 12"+ i think you are going to have problems. Are you planning on keeping it on it's own? or do you want more than one ray? any other tank mates you are planning to add?

i thinking keeping one ray and maybe some other tankmates like what swim at the top or middle MAYBE i could get a 5ft x 2ft tank , but the weigth is going to be a lot , i don't won't it to fall through the fall !!
