I looked rays up for Freshwater aquariums, and what do you know there are some moderatley small ones! So, do these guys need to be kept in groups? If so, how many and around what size of an aquarium is required for them? I read that they are fairly easy to keep, that true? Also, what top dwelling fish would be alright with them if any? :headbang2

Also, any other info on them would be appreciated!

rays and dats are pretty successful tankmates here on mfk...and with the ray you are talking about...dont forget they have very long tails.

Your looking atleast 240 gallons, 8x2' footprint.. but the wider the better. Even orbignyi can get fairly large, so you might consider retics or getting a tank atleast 30-36" wide.

Miles is right the 240 would be a good start, but if you want a cool tank, just get a really wide, and not tall tank. Tankmates would be any kind of Dat, or any kind of Geophagus(they eat all the scraps the Ray misses).

if you want tank mates with your rays i would say you need a tank thats at least 24inch deep as well as the sizes mentioned above

i helps the other fish get out of the rays way a bit

Hmm, well I dont really NEED tank mates, but having them wouldn't be bad! I SURE do like the Datanoids!!! Anyways, back the the topic. What is the smallest ray out there? I'm limited to a 125 that I recieved. As much help as possibale is greatly appreciated!

How would a Potamotrygon henlei do in a 125?

a 125 is typically less than 2' wide......., you atleast need a 2' wide tank to start and 3' or 4' wide tank thereafter.....

go for a 120 at first then work your way up.....
