My flower was a 14" Savage when I got it and it ate everything from shrimp talapia and miraculously massivore even ate 3 Datnoids..... The guy that sold it to me said he had 8 imported and of the 8 3 died and of the remaining 5 only this one ever ate pellets. They grow huge and very fast. I would say make them feed it in the store for you, if it eats then its a good sign. Otherwise pass. I have since lost contact with the guy I sold mine to saldy.... hes ducking my calls or fell off the map. and i forgot his username here. They look awesome but require rediculous amounts of space. At almost 15" when I sold it the claspers where nowhere near developed. I dont even want to know how long it was going to take to become sexually mature.

Mine is almost three years in captivity now around 13-14". He goes through spurts . Flowers are the type of ray that absolutely pounds its food ,but that's how they eat in my experience same as tigers . They spazz out when you drop food. Just like my paratrygon he absolutely pounds his food but far from aggressive. Flowers are far from the leo motoro types . They pound food like savages but they don't eat nearly as much or nearly as fast.

It's nice to see a few flower owners pop up on here ,I'd like to know how long you've all owned yours and what other rays your mixing it with

I would have to agree with Calgary on this one about them pouncing on the food but not eating that much or very quick. I also agree you don't see many over two years due to lots of reasons, the reason for me losing my 27" female flower of at 3 years plus was due to mating from a tiger male. I let the breeding continue and watched for damage which would have been about an 1/8 of damage you would see on a leo but it was too much for her and she started to stress. If you've owned and lost a flower once it starts to stress it's almost impossible to bring it back as it was the next day after seeing it wasn't eating it curled and died. Keeping a flower or tiger is a whole different approach than the more common rays we keep.
