Nobody knows anything about these rays? I have a couple different species of stingrays to choose from and different sizes, all of these rays are reasonably priced too, so let me know what you think would be the best rays to choose:
-true hystrix 10cm
-true hystrix 15
-laticeps 15 cm
-motoro 10 cm
-motoro 12 cm
-motoro 15 cm
-motoro 20-25 cm
-motoro 25-30 cm
-motoro 30-35 cm
-reticulated 10 cm
-reticulated 12 cm
-signatus 15 cm
-tiger 15 cm

Tiger Rays come from Peru.
True Hystrix do not come Peru.
True Reticulatas do not come from Peru.
Is this an asian exporter/breeder? Importer? Wholesaler?
All these stingrays do not come from the same area, or even close.. What is he asking for True Hystrix? Anything less than $200 and they are not 'true'.. Ask him when these 'true hystrix' were imported, and if it was anything less than 2 years ago, than they are not 'true'..
Laticeps and Signatus are likely 'made-up' or 'out-dated' names that exporters give to their unidentified rays.. They were probably scientifically reclassified many years ago, atleast laticeps was.. Signatus is probably a brown peruvian motoro variant that they needed to find a name for..
for whatever reason they found a name that they think works, but likely its from an old book, old fishermans nickname, or just because the exporter felt like naming it.
If the exporter you are purchasing these 'true hystrix' from is really irresponsible to the point of claiming they are 'true hystrix', I wouldn't recommend purchasing from them at all.
Do you work with Massive Aggression at all? He works with PAEX, who labels his rays a bit more appropriate..

The rays are coming for a wholesaler in Europe.He didn't say that they were true hystrix, he provided a feeding video and the rays in it looked exactly like true hystrix, they looked nothing like the "fake" motoro hystrix. He breed the hystrix and he showed me a video of the 35cm parents, which are not for sale.
Then I would go Hystrix all the way!

Ok hystrix it is then. Why does it being a European wholesaler make a difference? Thanks everybody, especially miles in helping me make my decision, I would get tigers but they get way to big. I'm going to let the tank cycle and come around christmas time, I will order the rays. If I get a camera for christmas I will post pictures. Does anybody have any tips on keeping hystrix? I have read the sticky at the top. Thanks again.
I've been reading about how hard it is to get a pair of hystrix, do you think because I have the chance to buy them now that I should get 3? At what size can they breed? If it is as rare/hard to get them as some people say than I will try to breed them. Anybody have any information on breeding them? Thanks
