Potamotrygon signatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
True P. Hystrix are harder to come by since Brazil closed it's border.. They are one of the smaller races, I would imagine breeding would occur at 2-3 years and 12-13".. They are also one of the smallest rays so re-sell appeal is nice.

I looked in this asian ray book and they didn't even recognize signatus as a species.. It looks like they cover every other one though.

if you can get 3 true hystrix get them... as far as breeding them same as any other way plenty of swimming space lots of good foods and perfectly clean water

Ok thanks guys, how many true hystrix rays do you think I could keep in a 162 gallon(6 ' wide X 18" deep X 28 3/4" high) with 2 AC 110's and a cascade 1200 canister for filtration before I need to upgrade? There will be no tankmates. When I need to I am going to upgrade to either a 130 x 24 x 25 Tall or a 96 x 36 x 25 Tall glasscages tank. Thanks

I would do a 1m/2m trio with minimum tankmates..

If you have time for water changes, and money to spend.. get 2m, 3f.. Upgrading will be a must.. the more rays, the sooner the upgrade.

So if I were to get 3f and 2m, how long would they be okay in this tank until an upgrade will be needed? Do you think I have enough filtration? This tank doesn't have overflows, but can you buy overflows for a tank because I have a 20 gallon long that could be used as a sump. Thanks
