Hi everyone, I am trying to create a list of foods for my future bichirs. Ever since I lost my big senegal, I have been planning to grow out another big one, maybe even bigger than the old one was. Here is the list so far:
-Hikari cichlid gold/carnivore pellets
-fresh shrimp/shrimp pellets/krill
-bloodworms
-dried fish (anchovies)
-tilapia/sutchi fillets
- snakehead fry(quarantined)
- guppies, mollies, shrimp (self bred)
- freeze-dried/live crickets, cockroaches and superworms
- maybe a little spirulina pellets
-scallops
-cockles, mussels

A VERY varied diet. Any opinions and tips are appreciated!

Hi
Great job so far :D
the only think i know, thats not on the list is beaf heart. My Delhezis love it.
Did your old Senegal eat mussels? Wich ones did you try? Mine don't even touch it...xD

My old bichir ate pretty much anything. Even corn, lettuce and peanuts. Probably shouldn't have done that but that was before I got on this forum and learned so much. Also, how often should I feed to get the best growth?

Small Bichir 3" or under should be fed small feeding's multiple times a day. Larger juvenile can be fed once a day. Mature adult Bichir every other day. Tbh everyone will have their own feeding routine but this is what I do.

Proper wc's will help tremendously in growth of fish.

Don't feed beef heart, causes trouble with fat and organs later on.
