So, someday when I have more money, I plan to build a decent shed, insulate it, and set it up for our american alligator "Prada" who is currently about 3.5' long. In the mean time however she has a 10' steel stock tank with a sort of "tank topper" that has a ramp & platform for her to climb up out on. This structure was built in a bit of a hurry due to an unexpected call from a frantic landlord screaming "There's an alligator in the bathtub!" anyway, below are the sketchup concept designs of the enclosure. The first one is her current pen, which was built in a bit of a hurry & has wire sides instead of plexi which is what I hope to do with the newer one. I am curious as to your thoughts & ideas on this design. She's pretty smart, so I don't think she'll have any trouble navigating the new ramp/platform design (plus it'd give her a little more of a challenge, thus making her life more interesting I'm sure. I do also want to cut a "feeding slot" into the side of the plexi so I can put a little door on it that's big enough to slip her food through, but not big enough for her to stick her head out, thus decreasing the risk of being bitten during feeding times. What do you guys think?

Current tank (though I ended up building it so doors swing up instead of out):

I think 2 is better the less wood an more glass so you can see them better my dad had won got to about 5 feet an sold it alost seem like you would need a pond out side with a fence aroud it like a green house if it gets cold were you liv those both look real nice tho

So, decided to move the stock tank poriton to the back wall of the enclosure to make it easier to access filtration/storage portion underneath the platform from the front.
What do you think? Can't wait to get this started, just waiting on the funds to do so now.gatorhouserev2.jpg

If you open up the bottom of the tank like you did in post #4 you could use it to store other reptile tanks to open up some room. I think that one would be best.

Taking notes chris? :)

I like the last one. Ahh so good to see gators being discussed more

That final one looks great! Cant wait to see this build get started.
