I've redone the 350 gallon and sold the dovii because I thought I would give the one fish in a big tank option a try and it just didn't work for me. I've learned from this experience and thinking back after 30+ years of keeping fish, that community setup is just better for me and I get more enjoyment from them. I love the interaction between the fish and it's more calming to me and since this is for me, i'm going with that. I've wrote up a stocklist and just wanted to see if anyone sees any potential problems for down the road before I even get them or anything that I might add that will fit this setup:

Hypsophorys Nicaraguense "Nic Cichlid" x5
Hypselecara Temporalis "Chocolate Cichlid" x1
Balantiocheilus Melanopterus "Bala Shark" x3 (for wife)
Metynnis Hypsauchen "Silver Dollar" x10
Corydoras Aeneus "Bronze Cory" x12
Yashikotakia Modesta "Red Tail Loach" x12
Hyphessobrycon Colombianus "Red Blue Columbian Tetra" x20
Pristella Maxillaris "Pristella Tetra" x20
Pseudorinelepis sp. (L152) "Pineapple Pleco"
Panaque cf. Nigrolineatus (L330) "Watermellon Pleco"
Hemiancistrus Subuiridis (L200) "Green Phantom"

Potential:
More pleco's
Semaprochilodus Insignis "Flagtail"
Barbs (Tinfoil, Tiger, etc...)
Geophagus of some sort

Any ideals???

Only loaches I've ever kept is clowns, zebras and yo-yo's. I've "heard" that others can be pretty territorial, and I"ve worried alot about putting a boisterous and nippy loach in a tank with bigger cichlids. It seems to me like an annoying, and hard to catch/find/face loach might be hard on a big lumbering 8-10 inch cichlid. Never seen it, but I"ve worried about it myself. The Pleco's you want to get are the same ones I'd want to get, too. I'd love to know how they compete for food in a tank with bigger cichlids. I suppose a chocolate cichlid would eat pellets off the bottom until they're all gone?

That is why I picked a high number and can get more than that if needed. The chocolate can take care of himself. The biggest concern is nothing eating the tetras....

I don't think you'll have any problems w/ the tetras getting eaten - those tetras are large growing & deep bodied, the only way there might be a risk is if they were fry. In a 350, the have tons of escape room.

There are a couple community setups I would consider with a 350:
1. SA community - angels, sevs, geos, rays, catfish & tetras. I know you had this not too long ago and probably want to try something new. This setup will always be my favorite setup.

2. Saltwater FOWLR

3. All male Vieja/aggressive fish community. Big fish, lots of color & activity. Only drawback is you might have to rehome some fish that get too aggressive.

Besides fish, what is your plans?

Any plants or driftwood? What kind of substrate?

I like your selection of fish, besides the balasharks, I wish they always stayed small;) they look great, but too big for my taste/tank.

Edit:
Try different type of corydoras, there are so many beautiful, personal favorite is the sterbai and leopard.

2 and 3 aren't for me, however some of 1 I'm doing. Severums can be little bullies sometimes or most of time in my experience. I'm not a ray person at all to be honest.

This is what I just moved over today from 75:

Nic x5
Cory x6
Silver Dollar x6

The rest or whatever I decide will be ordered in couple weeks. I want to ensure I have right selection.

I like your driftwood! Should provide plenty of shelter for most fish!

I would add as much hardy plants as you find appealing and some round river stones and maybe some more driftwood, I think that would look nice with smaller fish.

I hope you post more pictures when you are done, I would love to see how this turns out.

Nice cant wait to see it. I am a big fan of large community set ups. Don't have one myself but I think they are great. I would add a large group of cherry barbs I love the look of older ones.
