I learned that if you pour colder water than tank water, glass heater will break but..
what about the stealth visi-therm heaters?
Can I put in colder water in the tank and not break them?

In order to get a heater to break you would have to pour the cold water directly onto the hot heater. Your heater should always be submerged when plugged in, which would eliminate this hazard. The stealth heaters will shut off if they are pulled out of the water also they have an outer plastic coating which helps keeping them from breaking.

When you say directly on the heater, are we talking about outside of the tank?

My heater is on the middle of the tank and I usually pour in warmer water all over the tank. but today I had water hat was 1F colder than the tank..I poured it on the right corner of the tank..so do you think my heater is safe?

so are the stealth heaters not gonna break even if I pour colder water in the tank? Would the rush of the water getting poured in, reach the heater?

you should always try to refill your tanks with water that is as close to the temp inside the tank as you can get it..that way, no shattered heaters, no shocked fish..

I do water changes with cold water all the time. If it's a larger water change, I'll shut off the power to the tank and add water slowly.

Is it bad if I pour in warmer water?

and eupterus, you keep fish right? what about the temp. of the tank when you turn it of..wouldn't that be bad for the fish?

Mix hot with cold until it's around the same temperature at the tank water, a little drop (4-5F) is not bad as it's common in nature for the water temperature to vary from hour to hour or season to season. In fact adding cooler water usually triggers most fish to spawn. However, you must add the water slowly (keyword).

See I try to mix hot water from the sink but when I turn the water to "hot" white water comes out..doesn't look good.
I sometimes try putting the 1gallon bucket in a 5 gallon bucket and pouring boiling water in the 5gallon.

so are the visi-therm stealths really strong?

As Bderick mentioned, they are covered in a plastic casing meaning the heating element is safe and sound inside and won't crack from temperature differences like glass heaters. However, it doesn't mean you can smack the heater against the side of tank and expect it to survive.

The white water could be water that is either full of CO2 or in most cases it's calcium/magnesium precipitate. Adding it won't harm the fish as the calcium/magnesium will gradually dissolve back into water overtime.

1dF wouldn't do anything to the fish, or the heater.
