I have had mine 8 months and the largest one is with generosity 5"!! No joke! they do eat like pigs though!
They have to be the slowest growing fish out of all cichlids, in 8 months my friends grew to be only 3.5 inches..........
yea i got mine lucky..........was in petco one day pickin up substrate and just looked at the tanks..........had a tank full of em mislabeled so i got a 1 inch one for $4.99...........i've had mine for over a year and its a little over 5 inches................that's it in my avatar.............
Aquamojo had a pretty cool Blue Dempsey at the New Jersey show a couple years ago. They really are kind of frail compared to most of the CA cichlids.
I got mine for 14.99, and it was labeled as a powder blue jack dempsey from poseiden aquatics. He is around 1".
Electric Blue Jack Dempseys are actually a cross bred fish that cannot be bred in the home aquarium. At least that is what I was told at one of the LFS. But they are beautiful fish . I have one in my 75 gallon.
