Okay I wanted to know what most of you have for power back ups.

I have 3 tanks and we have power outage too many times so other then the obvious of generator what are my options..

Thanks in advance.

You can use battery operated airators. There are ones you have to turn on manually at any bait shop for cheap. Or you can get the ones that plug into the wall and turn on when there is no current going through the plug. That's what I am using at the moment.
You could also use a UPS (Uninteruptable Power supply) I've been thinking about Using one. Just get a timer and set your filters to go off every hour. It's a good fix for long term outages. Here in Florida, it is not uncommon to see the power go out for up to 3 months in lightly populated areas.

Ya I thought about ups since I have one for my PCs in the house, but I've had power outage that last a few days... and ups don't last that long...

I also thought about getting a car batt, and power inverter....

That's what the timer is for. It doesn't use too much power.

There's also a UPS out on the market now that is easily rechargeable. Has a nice little handle on the top.

So I would set it to go off every hour and how long would it have to run for...

It all depends on size of tank, amount of fish, amount of power all of your filters put out, amount of power in the backup, is the backup rechargeable, how long do you think the outage will be.......This is why I still use the battery bubblers. Too much to proses. And Uber expensive too.

So for peace of mind if I can get a used generator for 250$ I should buy it and run all my tanks with no worries about anything....

Thanks

I just hate to have to worry about my fish in a bad outage, last one was during hurricane and was like 3 days...

Could of been worst but I still stressed out..

I fyou can get a generator for 250 go for it man. Good deal and lots of power. Just add gas.

i used cheap battery operated air pumps that i get from Hong Kong... only like wat.... $1.25 US o.O xD i have like 10 of em...
