so keep my 300 watt amp or sell and go for 100 watt, what would be cheaper or worth more worth while?

I would just keep the 300. Not really going to be a difference in power consumption. And it will keep you from spending money you don't have to.

You could setup a cold water tank.

Thanks for all the calculations Chompers and Fiaman. I'm going to go figure out my power comsuption and they probably sell my tank :grinno: I have a 300 watt heater that never runs. This tank is the first one I've used a wet/dry on and I had no idea how much the pump would heat the water. We'll see what happens in the winter months.
 
ugg, I'm eating up $32.23 a month if I did the calculations right. The sump pump is the killer at 265w, with a grand total of 296.76 kwh a month at 10.86 cents per kwh :barf:

average is 18-24 degrees C

I could get a geophagus, they don't need heaters. or some Aussy natives I.E Bullrout, bass, gudgeons etc. :cool:
