We all love our fish and hate to see anything happen to them - sometimes we fail to plan for things out of our control. If there's one lesson I got the hard way it was to have a back-up power supply or some type of fail safe in case a breaker blows or something. I lost my complete 220g marine set-up due to a power failure. Coming home to see all my fish floating in the tank was a horrible, sickening experience; the lone survivor being a tesselated moray. At a point in my life when I couldn't afford to replace my fish; I cleaned the whole thing up, sold it and got out of the hobby for a while to lick my wounds.

I only have fresh water for now but the marine itch never goes away. Still, one thing for sure is that I'll have some type of battery back-up aeration system (very soon) so in the event the same thing were to happen, I can prevent a repeat disaster. If my advice helps just one of you, I'm a better man for it.

Cheers
