Power Failures...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well to add to this nice old very useful post, I had bought a battery booster off HSN for the car (not like I would keep in there thinking I'd never need it, but I did just a month ago! but where was it? in my garage!)

so now I'm charging up, cuz we suffered a brown out for 2hrs. last week due to this nasty noreaster wind storm that blew into town.

I wasn't home out interviewing. but lucky it came back on so no losses.

so I find the battery booster & think, hey, I can be prepared next time by using my charger, fits 2 plugs but have to read manual to see how long it can provide power & how much will it drain depending on what I have plugged in it. say at least the air pump running the sponge filter, right?

any opinions?

Thanks P

=)

so I read my manual on Xantrex Power Pack 300

it can go up to 8hrs depending of course on type of applicance. so it I just run sponge filter air pump can get by. heaters tho will sap up the juice quicker. this I can handle with w/c.

Have you done a test run yet?

I am currently running tests on how long things last on mine.....

Sorry to add questions to this post again :)
How long can fish usually last without a battery pump added during power outages?
We've had a storm a few days ago.
there are daily power outages which last about 6 hours or a little more.
but just in case I only have a battery pump. how long can i use it to keep the fish healthy?
my tanks filter are mostly sump. so the sump out of service during power outage.
How long can i keep my fish healthy with battery air pumps only?
any other tips? like maybe partial water changes?
I libe in a tropical country so heating is ni problem.
also another worry is, when the outage occur during early morning about 3am and I was not able to wake up to put the battery pumps in.
can the fish take no airpump for 2-3 hrs?

btw can hydrogen peroxide be used to help with oxygen level?
