What does everyone consider power feeding? I have heard of the term and someone said to me that I am power feeding my fish, but I never considered to be doing that before. What are your guys opinion on what is power feeding and is it a good thing or bad thing?

I have been powerfeeding my fish for 20 years.

only problem I have is that my fish live for years and years until I get bored with them :) (provided you do the required water changes to go along with powerfeeding)

powerfeeding to me, is just feeding until the belly of the fish is visibly full.

each day.

now, sometimes if I am feeding a high protein food, I will only feed 5 or 6 days per week to give the digestive system a break.

fish growth is still very rapid.

right now, for example, I am powerfeeding 5 small tinfoils in my 150 (see my sig) along with 5 filament barbs.

a powerfed fish living in clean water is a healthy fish in my experience.

and will grow and live for years and years.

I know there is another thread about 'fat fish' and how it is unhealthy, but at least in my experience,

a fat fish = well fed fish = healthy and long lived fish.

I disagree that powerfeeding is bad. as long as you do the required wc's to compensate for the extra waste.

I have heard that if you don't feed your fish for a couple days, and then feed the crap out of them, they grow quicker. Is this true?

I just feed my fish twice a day till they stop eating. Seems to work for them.

well what i have been doing with a few of the baby preds that i have is getting feeders, healthy ones, and leaving them to munch on as they please. The growth has been exceptional and I am not seeing much down side. I am doing the usual water treatments as I would with anything else and they are looking healthy and growing. I don't see much difference with that and what happens in the wild.

I don't think adults need power fed at all, and I mean adults, not an 8 inch Oscar I'm talking about 12 inch+ Oscars or a 2+ foot silver aro.

Power feeding fry-medium size fish is totally fine with me. I consider power feeding to consist of twice a day feeding and everyday. With a break once in awhile for fasting. I always power feed the fry, their growing why not give them the food they want and need.
