Water changes are huge...

Chop up your krill and night crawlers. I keep a bin of redworms (compost worms). They're smaller than Canadian nightcrawlers. Fish are never too small for krill or worms, you just need to chop them up.

I thought that I read some where(Don't remember where so it's not much help) that to much beef heart wasn't good because the fishes liver had trouble storing the high fat content in it. Has anyone else ever heard that or read it anywhere. Because I know my Os love it. But I hate the mess they leave behind.

been doing water changes but my cichlids just dont seem to like raw shrimp all my other fish love it but my cichlids just dont like it my jag likes cichlid pellets and my jack dempsy will try them sometimes and my firemouths are getting flakes and frozen food ive been meaning to get some pellets thay can eat but in the 55 there in i can't get the temp very high just to like 76 degrees is that to cold

everything ive found or been told has said to give beefheart in moderation, it is to fatty for the fish and will couse liver problems and digestive desieses. cricketsand earthworms are extremely high in protien, but its probably best for their main food scorce to be pellets like hikari or omega one whish is designed for the fish.
you really want em to grow fast just provide plenty of space, keep the water pristine and try to keep the temp between 78F and 82.
