Power head

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Way small. Turnover rate of at lest 7, preferably 10.

A powerhead cant really hurt...
But its the filtration you gotta make sure is sufficient.
As well as the wc's.

I have two Aquaclear 110's on it. Is that enough? Have been doing daily water changes for about a week now. Had high nitrites and nitrates. But they are going down now. Usually do 50% weekly is that about right?

Ok thanks...Just a grow out tank.
That's why you are having a water quality problem. Tank is too small for those fish at this time and not enough filtration. I have a 150 gallon growout and it has 2 aquaclear 110's,FX5 and 2 powerheads. After that they go to the 230 growout and then the bigger tanks.

Just keep an eye on the water quality so you don't lose them. Make sure your lids are secure as aros tend to be more jumpy in a smaller tank.

So a 125gal is too small already? Or just because its under filtrated? I have been told to add a FX5 before so i will look into that for sure. Thanks for the help.

Cainster filters are good because you get a filter and powerhead in one. Instead of the fx5 you can get the fx6 for only a few dollars more. If I was you I will save some money and just buy two aquatop/sun filters, a large one and a smaller one. With some of the money you save you can get an aquatop/sunsun circulation pump.

Your 125g is fine until they hit about 10" or so IMO.
But after that you should be lookn at a tank w/ a 30" width at the least IMO.
