THIS is my dominant male Hoplarchus psittacus.....I absolutely LOVE these fish! If you have a chance to get some, venezuelan OR brazilian...jump on it. Mine is the brazilian variant by the way.. The shot woulda been AWESOME..but there was a STUPID trumpet snail on the glass near his caudual fin..haha...RRG!!

I want one what is his common name. I'm not good with latin names. Is he some kind of cichlid or something???
Hoplarchus psittacus is the common name..haha..or True Parrot Cichlid. Semi aggressive, not horribly bad though. They are from South America...and mine are the BRAZILIAN red breasted strain...not the Venezuelan...

. BTW...you should be aware that these guys can get 16" +...i agree with you on this one Peanut. Its one of the coolest cichlids i own next to my Urau Fernandez. I have 2 males in a 125 and although 1 is dominate over the other i hardly see any signs that my dominate 1 wants the other dead. I was going to get rid of the smaller 1 but i've decided to keep them both. Absolutely love these guys. I'm also getting a Urau Fernandez from jeff on Weds. to go with my other urau. $250 big ones. That has to be the most i've ever spent on a single fish.
