My generator supplies two buildings each with 100 amp breakers boxes. However, the smaller building never comes close to using that amount and neither does the main house all at one. We cannot run heat and AC at the same time etc. So the generator is never overtaxed. However, We live in an areat wher the only public utility is electricity. Out water is from our well and we have propane tanks for the generator, the oven and stove and the pool heater. This is more expensive tha nat/ gas, bu it also is more efficient and runs with less noise than nat. gas. FYI we use a 38kw unit.
We are on our second unit, both Generac. However, I am almost certain if I had to do it over, i would consider a Kohler. I think their engines are more reliable. However, they are also a bit pricier. Our transfer switch is outside on the utility pole next to the house. it sits under the utility meter.
