NOT thanks to the gods, thanks to your foresight to have battery powered air pumps in all tanks. A lesson for all of us. Thanks.
i think if the power was out any longer the waste and ammonia build up wouldve been the problem, not lack off air, but yeah ur right about the battery op pumps, they save lives

I wonder why power outages are so bad there, when I ever lose power which is next to never it is only for a mater of minutes...

but I am glad to hear you were prepared and everyone made it...
there was two monster trees, one maple and one oak that destroyed telephones poles and power lines about half a mile apart from eachother, leaving over 2000 homes without juice for the same time frame as me

Sounds like the wc's were done after the power came back on.

Here in the city, we have water even without power. But outages only last a few minutes.

When I lived in Michigan, no water = no power. And power was out a LOT. Sometimes for many, many days. Tap water came from a well (like everyone else there), and even with whole house filtration and water softner it was orange and smelled rusty. That's the only time in my life I didn't keep any fish. But, we lived very close to a cool trout farm we could visit.
yeah after power came back, no power here = no water, and for sure no warm water

No, it's not a long-term solution, but it will buy you some time to plead with the power company and/or drive a long way and stand in line to buy a really overpriced generator.

I think our longest outage when I lived in MI was 6 days. Yeah, with no water. In July (after tornados). It got really smelly. Luckily I could shower at the hospital, but I avoided all public places because most people were not so lucky.

6 days is a long time to go with out water, id be friekin out about my fish if it was that long
