Power Outage

I use computer UPS' and a small air pump split between every couple of tanks (check valves, check valves, check valves ! ). Had a homemade 12vdc generator w/ converter, let someone borrow it and somehow it got fried AND they ruined the engine trying to rev it higher to get voltage out of it ( of course it wasn't their fault ! ) ( never a borrower or lender be... I always wondered what my mother ment by that when I was little) so have to start over on that one.
If we could teach the fish to pull a leash then hook it to a wheel and have them swim in a circle to turn a little generator ( kind of a mouse in a exercise wheel thingie )

Has anyone ever had to use their check valve, I have them on all my pumps, and I have never had that problem.

I never use a check valve, only to keep the water from going into the pump if the machine sits lower than the tank.

Yes the arowana is a very primitive fish...I read this in an article it said that arowanas can actually go with very little food because they have an extra gill in their gills that eats bacteria out of the water...I find this sceptical BUT i was looking at mine and they described the gills adzactly and I saw the red on the top part I will have to get the article out sometime and post it on here...very intersting!

I never use a check valve, only to keep the water from going into the pump if the machine sits lower than the tank.

This only occurs if the pump shuts off for some reason, correct?

Ewurm, I'm sure. But if anyone else has anything to say about the Check Valve on the Air Pipe, please feel free to posts....

Ya know, I was looking at computer UPS about 3 weeks ago while in Best Buy and thought about using them for aquariums. Just wasn't sure how well it'd work. I was wondering if anyone else ever tried it.
