What should I do? The power just went out and is estimated to come back at around 9pm and it’s only 5:40 right now. Will my fish be okay for that long without and active filter or heater.

Should be ok. Check your temps every hour to make sure it’s not going to low to fast.

+1 it will be fine. I’ve forgotten to plug stuff back in for longer. Only delicate stuff is affected.

That short of a time, unless you've got a small heavily stocked tank they'll be fine. I usually disconnect my canister filters after an hour and flush some water through them after the power comes back before restarting though.

AC/DC air pump is a good choice. It use electricity to operate but during power outage it automatically switches to battery mode. battery can recharge when air pump use electricity.

I deal with this often living in the Northeast. It’s not uncommon for the power to go out. The most important thing is a battery powered air pump. It’ especially important for big fish (8-10”+) and heavily stocked tanks with smaller fish.

I have had the power go off for 24hrs+ and not lost any fish.
