powerbait trout worms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In my opinion they are not better than using real worms, but like burtess I too have caught steelhead on them. I hook them near the head maybe 1/2 inch from the top on a 3'' red one. If you hook them in the middle I don't think it looks as natural. They do work, but I always say nothing beats the real thing. I never had much luck at all on the little pink grub looking ones made by gulp I would use regular ol maggots over those any day.

When you use these power worms do you reel them in same way as you would a lure?

I read some here sink them but not sure if you than slowly reel them back in?

In other words can I just hook them cast them out like you would a live earthworm and wait ?

I just got back from fishing and used my last 10 African earthworms (only caught small channel cats couple sunfish)

These fake worms look interesting . Its for large Oscars and Jack Dempseys .They chase lures but stop short of hitting them .
I ordered African worms online they work great but sunfish tear them up before the Oscars, etc get near them so these worms might be the answer .

Thanks

We use them for Great Lakes steelhead.

This one was caught on a 3" pink Power Worm hooked "wacky style" (through the middle once, size 12 widegap hook) and drifted under a float.
This was a wild fish, so had never tasted trout pellets either.
I don't use them that frequently, but at times they can be very effective.
