so right now i have 4 powerheads in my 72x19x24 tank all are maxijet1200's but i dont have the circulation parts for there really only 295gph compared to 1200-1300 ther elisted for ... now im thinking of sellinng them off or using them in my 75g for a bit of movement and getting some big ones for my big tank... here are what im thinking or considering please tell me what you like or your thoughts are on what you have used or recommend, here are the prices for the unit im looking at in canadian dollars as well

1. hydor koralia 1400 $47.95
2. aqeuon 2400gph $90
3. aqeuon 1650 75$

is what i was thinking is if your facing my tank straight on, i would put one PH on the left side on bottom on the front to blow the length of my tank to the right down the front of the tank, and then one more on the bottom right back corner to blow down the back side of my tank to the left, which is where my fx5's intake are .... so 2 koralia 1400's new are about $120 after tax/shipping, 2 aqeuon 2400 are $170 (2hr drive one way to buy em) and the aqueon 1650 $140 (2hr drive to get them as well same seller) all the units are brand new i the box never used.. if you have any experince with ANY of these please post about them and the quality

thanks rob

I have never use Aqueon but have used Koralia and maxi jet. I love both of them. The Koralia consume very low energy and put out a lot of water movement. I think it's like 8w only so it sure puts money back in the pocket in the long run. I also have a maxi jet 1200 and it does a wonderful job blowing bubbles in the tank.

5.5watts actually ;) and basically i want to add new powerheads in my tank to help blow the poop/dirt around the tank so it gets picked up by the filters less vaccuming more water movement means less algea as well.. i want something that going to move ALOT of water and has a powerful motor and is durable/realiable

You can add another Koralia. You also have to keep in mind if the fish you keep like the extra current. Some fish will b stress from it. Get the a suck fish if you want your tank glass clean.

Fish I have seem to really like the current they sit right in front of the powerheads I have now lol,

I do have an algea eater but it not my glass I'm worried bout algea seems to grow on my white substrate

I own a lot of koralia evos. Altogether I've had like 10 of them. The only problem with them is most of the time after a year or two the magnetic shaft will absorb some water and swell and split. Fortunately, their customer service is very good. You just email them, and they will send you out a new one within a few days completely free.

get Hydor Koralia x2 and then you have a better rate for only slightly more expensive, plus you have the added bonus of being able to get more flow to different areas of the tank.

and my only experience from powerheads comes from the one I use that used to be part of a UV steriliser. I just removed the Steriliser chamber and was left with a pretty powerful powerhead, just a good free way to blow water around my tank. one of these days I need to get a decent one, but until then this one works great

im kinda falling towards the hydor koralia 1400gph as well, all though was told they wear out quick and are "overpriced" but i can get 2 1400's brand new for about 120 bucks...... how much flo do they REALLY push/move in a tank ?? like if i have my maxi jet 1200 on my back wall it will push around the poop/dirt fairly well but thats in "powerhead" mode (295gph) not circulation mode (1200gph)

i wanna take out the maxijets and replace em with a "real" powerhead 2 of em take up less room and wont look as ugly in my tak as the maxijets in powerhead mode lol
