powerhead! for cichlids

With the filters you have, I would save the money for a bigger tank. I like to have enough circ to keep temps even, with no dead spots. In my african tank, with lots of rocks, and sand substrate I have two power heads hiden in the rocks to keep the poo movin.

I've never owned a jag but i have a power-head in my C/SA 55 gallon tank and it seems like the fish love it. Granted the power-head is made for a 30 gallon, so not that much of a current, but all-in-all i think it helps especially with the growth.

You're going to blow the fish out of the tank! Jags are a semi-riverine at most. They don't mind some current but prefer still pockets of water to hang out in to let food swim or float by as the come out to attack. With 15X the gallonage of you tank as a flow rate, he'll be constantly swimming just to stay in one spot. I think that much current would be very stressful.

It wouldn't be that bad. I have a 1500 gal powerhead in a 40 with a puffer, and he doesn't have problems staying in one spot, so a jag prolly could.

I say try it out and see if your jag loses any color or acts differently. Hey maybe he'll love it.
