I plan to have CL's and an oscar in my 90gal. Is it necessary to have a powerhead for the loaches, if so what size and will the current piss off the oscar?

I know nothing about powerheads, can anyone recomend one for my tank?

thanks.

I use powerheads with over 500-600gph speed with my severums and loaches. Loaches like fast flowing waters. Your oscar should be fine. Just give allowance for space without currents for the oscar's sake.

With a mild powerhead, the O will have plenty of calm spots in a 90.

What would be considered a mild powerhead?

I use a lot of powerfilters, which has the same effect.

Try a Koralia 3 or 4, placed 2/3 down blowing across the back wall of the tank.

The Koralias are great powerheads. I recommend them as well.

Makes me wonder way all pwerheads are not equiped w/magnets.

AquaClear Model-70 power head (old model-802) should do the job along with two AquaClear Model-110 power filters (old model-500). Loaches do appreciate a nice current with plenty of aeration.

I also use the spray jet of my xp4 instead of a power head in my cl' tank.
