  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the kind words guys. That was a cool fish. I still have not told my son and feel kind of bad not telling him. I suck...

Fish are sometimes a better opportunity for children to learn about life and death. How old is your son ?

He is 6 years old. He had his own 29 gallon for a couple years so he knows about death in fish (swordtails that bred like crazy/eat the fry & lost his kuhli loach). Your right about it being a good oportunity to teach them though.

The BGK just had his attention. He could put his hands in the tank and this fish would always swim up and let him touch him. The top of the tank is 5'-10" from the floor so I think it was more getting on dads shoulders and having that time with me and a cool fish.

wow that fish is a real looker! sorry about him dying :( are you going to get another one ? :)

Thanks girlie. No, I won't replace him. I'm usually never satisfied with any replacement ya know? Told my son today and he was pretty upset so I promised him he could help me pick out something new and different. I hope he likes big Acarichthys Heckelii :grinno:

Right on man. Aquariums are a good time for kids. When my little sister comes over she runs up to the aquariums first thing and is full of questions. She loves hand feeding the bichirs and watching the angels breed bosemans school.

Sorry for the loss and good luck on the replacement.

Do you have any idea what was bothering him the night before? We lost our big BGK around the same size to yet another run away stealth heater. The temp was 92 when we found him. :( They are great fish. I'm really sorry you lost your guy.
