i cant do a HOB as i have a hood for the tank. how about a powerhead with a prefilter? would that do a good job?

just thought id let you know

my tank is about 200L. ive decieded to attach a sponge filter (designed for 200L tanks, or possibly a 250L tank as the shape is more convenient) to the bottom of the powerhead, and another (designed for 100L) to the intake of my external filter. incase my external filter breaks i've got a spare filter, in the form of my powerhead/sponge filter.

will the sponge filter trap sand?
