Powerhead Question!

I just got a new powerhead and I was wondering if its important to put the hose for oxygen so it blows out bubbles too.

What is the bubble for the powerhead do? Extra oxygen?

I am asking because it is creating tons of micro tiny bubbles in my tank and it doesnt look nice.

There is no real benefit to the hose. I guess some people might like the way it looks. The power head is used to circulate the water to prevent dead zones in the water. Also I use mine to break the surface of the water...this is where the oxygen exchange happens.
