Powerhead with quick filter attachment vs power filter

Sup guys and gals. I have a 55 long that is pretty well stocked. 6 dats, 1 silver arrow, 4 clown loaches, 2 archers, and 2 plecos. I will be upgrading to a bigger tank as soon as space permits. I am currently running an AC 110 and a marineland powerhead 300gph. My question is, should I get another power filter to complement my ac110, or should I get a powerhead with a quick filter attachment rated at 550 gph? I am leaning toward another aquaclear filter, maybe a ac50 or ac70. Thanks in advance. Any input is greatly appreciated.

either way. You're just going to want something you can use on your larger tank. You can get cheap AC110's form DrFosterSmith, but I can't remember the product code. It's different than the one you will find searching their site. You need to type the specific product code in the search function. If no one else speaks up about it, I will find the number as I have it at home. However, it's a good idea to still add a powerhead.
 
I saw the link for $50 ac110s, but it was expired or something on drsfoster and smith website. With the shipping to Hawaii, it came out to like $70.

there was another code to where it was $34, but I just checked it out and it's up to the regular price. They must have caught the glitch. I printed it out, so I may still be able to get Poopsmart to match it, but that doesn't do you any good.
 
i like powerheads with the sponge filter attachments... but with that bioload you may want to build yourself a sump... and gets more than 1 new tank..
 
Hmmm...I'll need to check out the DIY sump section. What about getting another type of filter, like a cannister filter? Would that help or am I better off getting another ac110 or a sump? Even if I get another ac110, a lot of the bio waste hangs out at the bottom of my tank. Any ideas for getting the waste directed toward my filter? If that works, I could probably do without another filter.
