powerhead?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 7" aro would be a better choice, but will outgrow those fronts very quickly. Give the fronts lots of caves and retreats and the fronts will stay down low, aro up top. I grew out kigomas and a silver aro and keep them together with no problems. Not so much as a nipped fin. Check out my aquascape in my 190. I keep 6 plecos and 6 CLs in there also. Kigomas are 4 years old and breeding nicely and aro is 2 yrs old and 22".

You'll need to go bigger sooner then you may think...

wow nice tank crispy, okay might be a stupid question but why would the bigger arrow be better than the arrow thats the same size as my kigomas? also how big where your fish when you put them in your tank.

Smaller arows are much harder to care for then a 7'' arow. 6''+ arows are easier to train to eat different foods then at 3'' and so on. But, the bigger arow you get, the faster your going to have to upgrade. With that in mind, if you have skills and patents, I would go with one small one.
Lucky for you, you live in hawaii and a pond could be built outside to house your arow.

Would an emp 400 and a topfin 60 be to much for a small 4-5 inch aro? i have a powerhead but i can direct it away from the top. Ty for the info

I think im gonna have the Current problem if i keep my 1300gph wave makers going while mine are little.

I think ill just keep them off till they grow out a bit and can handle a stronger current.

i have a emp 400 and a wisper 60 on a 55gal with 5 4-7" aros in it...i have a 20gal with a emp 280 with a 3" aro, a 55gal with an emp 400 only and a 3" aro in that one...you just have to watch the fish to see if it can do it...no power heads though...

tankmates with aros should be done at a larger size do to the fragile state of the aro...7"+ sould be a min to have true tankmates...if you were to do a few aros then the larger size...i rased 2 silvers from 3" or less to larger size...one at a time in a tank alone till they were bigger...

im gonna trial and error it, arrows that are 3 to 4" are sellling here at about $13 a fish so its not expensive. im willing to give those a try. gonna pick up 3 today and see how it goes.

Good, i hate to take down my filters. I might need to turn off the powerhead or point it down, i duno. my reds deal with it pretty good thou, but they can take it better than this little guy prob. Are silvers pretty hardy?
