i went ahead and did it.

damn my soft spot for you guys :irked: :)

Although I waited for over a month and almost a half to disclose my loss, I do believe threads like these are good for helping people cope with their losses. After all, sites like MFK rely on the common interests of people and is a good place to boast, brag, lament, educate, disclose, and sometimes even rely upon others.

After a loss, relying on people for some sort of understanding by people that think "arowana" sounds like something you can smoke is just not very productive.

Case in point: Soon after my loss, I told some friends at work I lost my arowana and pbass. Most people do not consider them to be pets you can actually begin to care about and the only thing they had to say about it was "well that sucks they were cool." "Fish Fry and Jeremy's house...HA HA HA!" Or they would say that they looked expensive and what are you going to do now.

I am just saying entire organizations and agencies were created based on the fact that people care about the treatment of animals, both current and future. They were designed to protect, defend and rehabilitate. They never met them or owned them before, why should they care? COMPASSION is the answer. The same concept applies to people that buy arowana, or any fish or animal, based upon the dream or desire to own one. That dream or desire could most likely have been present for a long time. Thus, they buy the arowana that looks perfect to them and immediately share a bond with them. Then it dies for unknown or known reasons. Obviously there was a basis for immediate love or genuine care for that fish, and to think they should just think of it as a monetary loss is absurd.

That being said, unless you have something constributing to the thread in a positive way, keep your heartless comments to yourself...and as Hightimes said...find somewhere else to be an *******.

That all being said and off my chest, I do prey no one looses any of their pets anytime soon. And thanks to everyone for the kind words...they do make me feel better. I should have posted a long time ago to help me get over it. I am fine now, but I just feel that these threads are a positive thing. Sorry for so long a post...I get wordy sometimes.

we love to hear you get wordy and we want to hear from you, you are missed... so get back in the swing as soon as possible..
