Praying mantis kills humming bird *pics!*

I ahve seen those before, pretty impressive. Once sawa video of a bat caught in a spider web as well, watched the spider wrap it up and all.

I dunno, I guess it is. From what I'm reading they even eat mice! :eek:

Judging by the wings, the bird does look immature, but I'm not knowledgeable about birds so I'm probably wrong.
 
WOW!!!!!! That's insane!!!!. I feel bad for the hummingbird though. I do like my mantises.
 
Hummingbirds are really small, I'm not suprised it took one down. If it were any other bird though I think it is safe to say the roles would be reversed.

You keep mantids? That's cool. I found a good size one today so I caught it, and I'm gut loading some crickets for it to eat tomorrow.

I've read up about the cricket debate and found that as long as you take care of the crickets (clean environment, gutload etc..) it's safe.

Maybe you can ID the one I caught? :)
