I have fed them to my fish before but I believe that raw is better.

Ok thanks

You can avoid this by putting smaller ammounts into containers like small milk cartons and tupperware containers then covering with water before freezing. to use just thaw the chosen container. The water prevents freezerburn and avoids that smell.

I agree, definitely a top ten food idea!! Thanks . .

all of my fish get pre-cooked frozen tail off shrimp 3-4 days a week. combined with hikari pellets and frozen blood worms i've seen pretty good results. most recently i've had a 4in silver (bought the last week in may) grow 14 inchs as off this past sunday. raw or not, its worked pretty well for me.

What kind of fish are you feeding the shrimp to?
wow any pictures of your shiner? oh wait..silver?? arowana??

I wouldn't feed any cooked products to my fish. You are not getting much nutritional value at all. You can feed frozen foods - but even then you lose some value. I'd supplement with a vitamin if feeding strictly frozen then thawed foods to fish.

Guppy's idea of small contains is a great way to go. Just make sure not to "quick thaw" them under water. Put them in a fridge and let them thaw slowly.

all right.
i am guessing that it is because it will cool the tank down and break the heaters..correct?

Correct. If you just toss a block of frozen food under hot water to thaw it, you've just eliminated all of it's nutritional value and there is no point in feeding it out.

oh i get it now. okay
so I should stop putting my frozen shrimp in hot water before feeding to my turtle. I guess i'll move the bag in the fridge then
