Predators in 60in tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Six was pushing it with 60 inches. 79 inches is 30% more length. 30% more fish would be eight. I just did the math, hope you hear from Milingu and Neutrino and Duanes and the big hap keepers.

Filtration and water hygiene is one thing. I think you could make it work with 10 big fish. But it would freak me out to run the water parameters always on the limit. You forget or cannot do the weekly water change once and you have a problem. You feed a bit more than normaly and you have a problem. The water becomes a bit warmer in the summer and you have a problem. And so on.

Another issue is the space some of the fish need no matter how many other fish there are in the tank. Your new tank is already the bare minimum for the venustus and the livingstoni. And they are both more calm swimmers regarding their size. But the fusco is a more active swimmer. I consider everything under 240 cm too small for a full grown specimen.

What are your other bigger haps? Do I see a Fossorochromis in the background of the last pic?

Confirmed males - fusco, ob comp, livinstonii, ornatus, red empress, red fin borley.
females/subdominant/young ones - fossochromis, vc10, taiwan reef, freyri, venustus (new addition- could be juiced female - very timid in compare to livingstoni at same size)
Then I gave a bunch of peacocks (ob’s, dragonbloods etc) and few mbunas.
Will see how it goes but some of my subdominant fish, mbunas and peacocks and also sone females will end up in 120g with Jack Dempsey ( he grow up with peacocks and haps, and now also have few mbunas as dithers in his tank)
