hi all

i am getting a 50USG tank soon and wanted to put some predtitory fish in it, a sort of community of preditory fish that max out at about 20cm

the previous plan was to have a Dehlzi bichir, 4-6 silver dollars a BGK and a indo dat but any of these can be removed or changed for the new stocking plan.

so any predidtory fish that would live in a 50USG for life, fairly cheap fish and max out at about 20cm suggestions please!!

Thanks
Matt

what is the dimensions of your tank? (l w h)

You can't do a whole lot in a 50 because predatory fish get so big. I'd recommend a 75 instead.

dats can't live in a 50 for life a while but all get over 12''

you could try a few of these

african butterfly fish
african brown knife fish
other polypterus
ctenopoma
nandus nandus
lots but a bigger tank would help alot

if only you got a bigger tank.
maybe a erythrinus erythrinus?
and a couple of senegals and delhezis.
plus a african butterfly would be nice.

lol thanks, for some reason i can never spell predatory properly:nilly:

i can only get a 50 due to space and money.

i would like to do ctenopoma but dont know much about them will have a read, what about a rainbow snakehead?

the dinemsions are 92 (L) 55cm (D) and 41 (H) thats 36"(L)X22"(D)X16"(H)

the dat will be moved into a friends when it gets too big.

thanks
Matt

Who cares about spelling, a gallon is the same as a gallon whether it's in the US or anywhere else...

silver dollars aren't predators and they're herbivores.
they'll have trouble digesting all the protein you feed the other fish.

a rainbow snakehead would be ok in their as long as its the only thing in their...or another rainbow snakehead...since they dont max out pretty much over 20 cm....i think....lol but one thing for sure that they dont get as big as the other common snakeheads found around asia

but they just hopefully stay in 8 inches....so you could have 2 rainbow snakeheads in the 50 gallon...and possibly a senegal bichirbut they can get to 20 inches...which may not be the good thing to add...so try 3 rainbiow snakeheads for a predatory tank
