Prepping a Terra Cotta flower pot?

All I have ever done is to scrub them out real careful with a soft brush and water, let it dry and toss it in the tank.

I wash them off in HOT water then soak them for 3 days changing all the water in the 5 gallon bucket daily. Probably excessive but never had problems. It is also very easy to knock the bottoms out of them if you do this process.

I set mine in the driveway... squirt them with the hose... and have them in the tank 10 minutes after getting home from the store...

Because they are porous, I definitely would not use bleach as it will be difficult to get all of the bleach out afterwards...

Feel free to soak them, boil them, whatever... although I personally feel it's unnecessary...

It is exceptionally unlikely that they have soaked up any "deadly chemicals"... got touched by a few dirty hands maybe, but that's about it...

Im captain over kill when it comes to tank contamination. I wear the heavy duty arm gloves during maintenance and soak any decor for three days in case it leaches anything in the water.
