Hi at all,

I'm Cris from Italy.

In my country there is a few hobbyst that like "big fishes", and I am one of them...

:D

At the moment I have at my active 4 tanks, one of them (200 liters) set up tanganikan lake, one other (300 liters) south american set up (heros severus), another 200 lt with Angelfish and at last a 300 liters with some "small" mixed south/central american cichlids, (2 JD, 2 GT, 2 Aquidens Pulcher )

...and awaiting for the future, more room and more bigger tanks :grinyes:

Ok, now if someone can help me...

some days ago a LFS sold my wife a couple of severum juv...... :(
Severum ?? Without vertical bars? Mmmmmmm....
Big, big mistake.... infact there are (for me) some Vieja (paratheraps) specimen,
probably maculicauda or zonata, but is the first time that i see one.

I will attach a pic of one of them, in awaiting to get back to LFS :(
Infact, if my prediction will right , they grows too big for any of my tank setup

Thanks in advance !

Cris

Hmm...it almost looks like a severum crossed with a firemouth...doesn't really have a vieja look to me.

I partially agree...I'd say it almost looks like a firemouth crossed with a spinosissum. I'd definitely have to say hybrid though. the mouth and dorsal fin are off for any kind of Vieja/Paratheraps imo. :)

I have re-sized your images for you so that everyone can view them easier !

Next time you want to upload any of you pictures you can use the MFK gallery which auto sizes images for you.

I personally think your fish is some kind of Vieja what size is it ? and how long have you had it ?

Tank you for resizing ! What is the best size in kb's for future up's ?

I will use MFK gallery in any case :-)

About fishes, i've got 3 weeks ago (approx) at 1" and their actual size is about 3".

Before asking you, I trying to search in the web, but unfortunally is very rare finding juv or fry pics of vieja spec.

KB's vary it all depends on how many pixels you camera is. But the size which is prefered for the forum is 640x480.

i suggest if your fish is only 3" give it a while more and let it grow then we will be able to give you a much more possitive ID.

Ok, following your tips I'll post new update pics when fishes grows in size !

Tnx for the moment ! :)

Cris

It almost looks like a black belt with a stripe that never quite happened you will be able to tell for sure around 6 inches i would guess
