Preserving a dead fish

That was not at all clear from your post. I checked back later and the moisture apparently was from all the splashing that happened when we cleaned out the tank because he's totally dry.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound condescending or anything. My friend tried everything he could think of to do the same thing but his fish turned extremely brittle and just fell apart after awhile. Taxidermist just seems like a logical choice.

No offense taken; I definitely plan to have my much larger polys professionally preserved. I don't know if they could do anything with him since he's totally fish jerky right now. I've seen some nicely preserved DIY specimens on here so I thought I might give it a shot on my accidental mummy.

Fish jerky :ROFL: I say that too. Sometimes I go collect fish jerky from the pet store.

If it's already dry, I just leave as is, it doesnt seem to decay much after that point.
