I want to make a water bowl for my new snake. I pretty much want to make a rectangle and fit it with pond liner holding in the water. I want to use pressure treated wood(the green stuff) to make the frame so it doesnt warp. Is this ok?

Oh ya, while typing this thread, I just had the best idea EVER. I will tell ya later thought ;)

yeah pressure treated is bad news for anything living. whats wrong with a rubbermaid stock tank? it would be so much easier and you would have the bottom drain for cleaning.

I've used treated lumber for years in outdoor enclosures. From my understanding it's only dangerous when used with animals that might chew or gnaw on it. But if you want to build something and avoid treated lumber they make synthetic, recycled lumber from plastic. People use it for decks. It's expensive but completely safe.

what animals? this is for a pond so i don't think it would be worth the risk. that plastic decking board is great. it is expensive and bendy, but if braced properly can be very strong. i still think the best thing for you to do would be to go with a premade stock tank.

I don't think it really matters if he's going to use treated lumber because he's wrapping it with pond liner. The pond water and wood will never come in contact.

I've constructed outdoor Iguana and Basilisk enclosures from treated lumber. Also all my turtle pens have been made from it.
