I haven't been here long but it seems like the cichla guys have the fastest burnout rate. I am wondering if it's just capital investment (time/money) that burns them out?

It's easy to see how you can spend X for a 500+gallon tank, fish (different species), food, electricity, filtration, and just the up keep. Next thing you know 10k + is gone.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread. Just curious that's all.

I don't understand Bro... Seems like you have better a setup than most people can provide for their fish.

Sad to see you go, I wonder how many Cichla keepers have left so far.

Please post all transactions in marketplace forum. I'll allow this open for thoughts, sentiments, but not transactions.

Im just gonna retreat into the weeds for a bit :). I will pop back up someday with a really silly setup. You can bank on that. Just gonna get myself right. Cant seem to do that when my focus is always on other things. Time to focus on me for awhile. I will still be a fish keeper, just not a Monster Keeper...for now.

You know yourself best and you know what is needed to say focused on. There is not persuading you on this one ;) Don't forget to pop your head in once and a while if you ever get some spare time and check the cichla forum out.

BTW what sid you thing of that granule biological media? Did it work like they said?

Sad to see you go Venom :(

I feel the same way though. I'm thinking of reducing my stock and keeping things to a minimum until i get my house, an epic tank, and have a nice drip system going. Good luck with everything, hope to see you back soon!

BTW, all fish pending a sale. :WHOA:

It does work, very well, and very cheap. Called pond matrix. If this tank does not sell, it will be running. Cheaper to keep er' than to store it. If that turns out to be the case, I will have something in it. Just not sure what yet. Might stuff the SOB full of those bahias if the deal goes down before they are all gone :screwy:

All the big cichla are sold, but with tragedy. My big Orino, that was about 17" died during the transport. I had grown her out for about 3 years. Got her when she was around 3". Only thing we can think is ammonia poisoning. The last feed she had was 24 hrs or so prior to moving, she went belly up about 3hrs into a long move from Dallas to Houston. :(
