is their any way to completely eliminate an arow form jumping out of its tank?

ive seen alot of leaps the past few weeks

jen lost hers black even though she has her lid strapped down and steves aro broke though the glass lid

it seems nothing can stop an arow from breaking through the hood, and all we have to rely on is luck.

ive seen arows break through or almost penetrate lids weighted down with BRICKS!!!, including mine ;)

so is their anyway to completely 100%!! eliminate this?

More Bricks and try putting floating plants (plastic or real) on the surface. This would make the arowana more secure and could probably help ( though not a guantee ) lessen the chance that it would jump.

I have lost quite a few arowanas because of jumping. I just put as many heavy things as i can on the lid and the whole thing is sealed.

Put a nice barb wire fence around the top. That should stop him. How about a block of concrete?

Bricks, duct tape, and straps may get the job done but, it looks like shibby. Easy solution...build a canopy for the tank. A 4 or 5" high canopy can hold your light(s) by screwing the housings to the top. If you have a w/d with prefilter box in the tank, the canopy can be a full wrap. If your filter is a HOB, you can jigsaw out cuts to exactly fit the filter.

Oh yeah...real relaxing. I did 2,000gals worth of water changes/gravel washes today, cleaned 36 filters, tested 82 tanks, and spent 2 hours feeding out my fish. Still...could be worse. I could still be back in the Persian Gulf.

We could always try Chicken wire just under a glass canopy or maybe a Glass Canopy made with Safety Glass. Although Who knows is thatd even hold Aros in a tank.

at the lfs I am working at we are building a canopy that goes one inch from ceiling keep in mind the tank is 2' tall and is on a stand that is 5 1/2 ft high so the canopy only need to be about 8-10" high...

the one above me sounds good but the prob is why are they jumping

a bigger tank is the best solution you dont live in a cell and if you did you mught want to jump

or maybe the water changes are slacking a little an 8'' aro and 3 6-8" ciclids or ect in a 180 needs a weekly change of 25% or more to be as clean as a good river just because of the chemicals that we cant sets for build up like phermones from fish

but really just build a tall canopy around it so they can jump up w/o getting smacked and not jump out
