Prevention of Drop-eye.
Don't overfeed, keep the fish in heathy shape...not a fat fish, and put a couple of ping pong balls in the tank for him to look up at all the time when he swims..... I did this and it helped my RTG Arowana drop-eye improve by 95%. It is still not perfect like the other eye but it is find to me at just a slight drop.

put a goldfish inside one of those little containers that you get in the quater machines.
fill it with a little water and a gold fish, make sure it floats.
it use to do it with my oscars. they would chase it for hours.

Hummm......creative Rayman45! I'm going to try that with my RTG Arowana to give him more exercise! 
I come across this article http://arowanaclub.com/stories.php?story=03/01/14/2046318 . This article is about drop eyes hopes it is useful to you. Infact I made some changes to my tank after reading it.
To share with you all of my changes in my tank I post some of before n after. And I found that changes also enhence abit in the colouration of my RTG ( Bare, black back ground n added with gravel)

stick with thier natural foods like insects, on the surface or small birds. wild caught insects are probably best = less fatty.

Wild caught or breed it wont make a difference in the fish getting drop eye. I have seen hundreds of wild caught silvers and 95% of the time they develope drop eye once placed in a tank, even the big ones.
It is an enviromental problem and stoping it from occuring can difficult.
