Price for 20-24" silver aro's?

Here on the big island of hawaii, you cant even find anything but w/egg sack or just dropped egg sack at $30. Pretty sad but there is only one LFS here and its not a big one. At least they sell 6 inch CK's for $20.....One of the regrets of moving to this island. Not too many choices and usually are gone before you get there......I usually go to the LFS every Thursday afternoon, that when they get shipments. Today it was archer fish and all 6 were on hold, WTF. I would have bought all 6, anyhow....my buddy owns the store and held two for himself but gave one to me for $15.....Hawaii sucks when it comes down to FW fish but saltwater on the other hand (not into it) you can get for free.

I'm amazed how silver aros catch quite a price tag in your countries, probably because of some laws regarding importation of arowanas. Anyway, here in the philippines, silvers are being bred in backyards so a lot of breeders fill up the LFS with hundreds of baby silver aros and so price go down as low as $3 each, no joke.

Are silvers really being bred in "backyards" 8Mile? Is it already comparable to asian's?
Around here, its either cheap because some guy can't keep a grown aro, or around 350 in a LFS...
