What is a good price rule for purchasing peacock bass? Someone in another forum gave me a good rundown on Datnoids and I was hoping someone would do the same here.

Occellaris? Is this the most common?

I guess there are Mono's and Orinos and Azul's which I never knew of prior to coming here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Monoculus and ocellaris, most common, smallest- avg price id say around 10 bucks for them at 2 to 3 inches
tems, orinos- prolly at least 40 bucks
Azuls are quite expensive at least 100

haha.
poor suckers. :P
orinos, tems, ocells, monos are all around 1.50 US dollars at around 1.5 to 2 inches.
i am in singapore though. :D

Let's say at 6-8"

Common:

Farmie Monos - $25-$50

Wild caught Monos - $45-$75.00 (of course must be from reliable source)

Mono x Oce - $25-$50

Orinocensis - $45-$75

Not so common:

True Ocellaris - $45-$75.00

Not common (Rare)

Azuls - $250 - $300.00
Intermedia's - $250 - $300.00
Kelberi's - $500 - up
Xingu's - $800 - up
Fogo's - who knows... perhaps 1K - up

R1's prices are a good base, but if you are dealing with wild caught cichla (which not very many people import)price will depend on collection point-ie some cichla of the same species are rarer from certain river systems and can vary in look...this is a big factor when purchasing wild caught cichla and the price they bring. most cichla on the market for sale are farm bred monocs, ocellaris, crosses, and tems.

Azuls - $250 - $300.00
Intermedia's - $250 - $300.00
Kelberi's - $500 - up
Xingu's - $800 - up
Fogo's - who knows... perhaps 1K - up[/QUOTE]

If i could get them this cheap then i would have alot more than i have now:(
But ill pay whatever they want because its not like i can go to the lfs and score them.

Lewis,

My idea of pricing is whats come across my way. It's also dependent on the size. Ultimately the price is determined by the buyer not the seller. It's what the buyer will pay? As Dmack noted, it's a base price..LOL... the special option & features are extra..hahaha

If someone charges me $1K for a fish it might be too high for me. For you it might be a justified because that is a price you feel is worth the fish. This is not just for PBASS. This is for every rare fish in the hobby.

When I first purchased my GATF I paid $700.00 @ 5"? now people can't even sell one for $300.00? Do I regret it, no... at the time no one had it. I also enjoyed owning the fish. I felt the price was justified and I was able to afford it so I bought it.
