Prickly sculpin!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ook!..fine this is over due...Ill get more soon.

she now is so lazy she only hunts pellets..refuses live foods anymore..will eat worms once in a while if they are not wiggling to much..crazy fish.

she is still just over 7 inches fat and her grumpy self always begging for pellets when im close the tank.

she is now in a 29g with a Fluval c4 40-70 filter..keeps the water amazingly clear!..and with the tank the bottom of my wrack i built it stays around 60o never reaching over 65o this summer.

Amazing pictures!!!!!!!!!

I had few big mottled scuplins in the past but they won't take prepared foods. However I had few young scuplins took flakes and betta pellets very well. Of course they were eaten by a bullhead in same tank >_<

I tried bringing a few larger sculpin in to my older tank..it never seemed to work, but the small ones take it tank life very well. ..mine has been eating flakes sens ..oh a month after i got her and pellets as she got larger now she only wants pellets...she barely even wants to eat worms unless they are mostly dead and not wiggling.:screwy: i dunno guess im lucky but i liked feeding her worms!

her growth has slowed down allot lately but she is almost 3 years old so that could be why ^_^

She looks good as usual. I need to get pics up of my Mottled Sculpins.

Funny thing is that you don't need current or cooler temperatures to keep scuplins in capitivity. I kept the young ones alive for six months before the young bullhead getting bigger. The scuplins grew from an inch to 4" while in my care.

no they are not to picky they do need high O2 but that is not hard to get even in warmer waters. ..the tank does have a decent amount of flow seeing that im running a 70g filter on a 29g tank but its not needed.

they do fine in warmer temps but she goes a little buggy on me with anything over 75o they can tolerate warmer temps for small stints.

she really seems to be loving her 60o tank...thriving rather than surviving ^_^ I have noticed they do better in cooler water as they get older and a 29g tank is at about the depth they like to be as adults in the wild.

Great pictures, I still love the idea of a sculpin tank, and yours is the coolest Ive yet seen.

AAW thank you ^_^ I just try my best to keep her happy. and sculpin are awesome...nothing quite like them!
