Is prime really needed for well water? Well water shouldn't have any chlorine or chloramine in it. I always do have nitrates from the tap though. Does prime really help with nitrates or just chlorine?

I have well water and I still use it. The do do some cleaning from time to time. And it also detoxifies metals. Which I'm sure helps keep the water balanced.
The way I see it is either you're not really spending much on using it anyways or if you do use a lot where it's expensive then you probably have enough money invested to where it's probably a good idea to be safe than sorry.

Seachem Prime/Safe labeling states it will remove: chlorine, chloraminbe, and ammonia. Label also states it will detoxifies nitrate and nitrite "allowing the biolfilterto more efficiently remove them."

No where does it claims to detoxifies any metals. If this was the case, it would be a major selling/marketing point and Seachem would surely take advantage of this fact and spelled it in large, bold prints on the front of the label.

I've been using well water now with no conditioner for the past 4 years, and I do 50% w/c every 3-4days.............no issues whatsoever.

While Prime does detox nitrate, its not enough to control the constantly increasing level of nitrate in a typical fish aquarium. Your best bet, to keep nitrate under control, is to maintain a regular, adequate w/c regiment, and utilze plants such as pothos.

nope. if none treated well water, I would still test the water so you know whats going in, biggest issue with well water is nitrates. Test your water so you know where you are at.
