Prime question?

So I'm moving out on my own and now I won't have the luxury of using RO and won't have the space to have a bunch of buckets for water changes.
So my solution was to buy a python kit that hooks straight up to my sink. So my question is when I fill it up do I add the prime to the tank before the tap water goes in or after I refilled the tank up.

I always add my dechlor right as I start to refill the tank. I'll pour it into the stream of new water to make sure it gets mixed evenly. Also make sure you treat the entire tank volume not just the amout of water being replaced. PS. nice pug
 
I have always added prime/amquel before adding the new water since it's very difficult to overdose. I also treat for the amount of water I'm changing, and not the entire tank volume as it states on the bottle. It has always worked for me and I have done it hundreds (maybe thousands?) of times on my personal aquariums and for my maintenance clients. I believe they tell you to dose for the tank volume because you will use more of their product, just like most foods tell you to feed 2x per day. dechlorinators preferentially remove chlorine/chloramines over ammonia/nitrite/nitrate so you don't have to worry about these chemicals interfering with the dechlorination process.

Thanks for the advice sounds like a solid way to do it. I'm not to worried about using more product so so I have good piece of mind. As for the RO I never use all RO I'd do half and half.
And yeah that's my best friends pug tank a boo boo he's pretty chill.

I use declorinator to the tank in the amount of the new water being added not the volume of the tank. Been doing this for 40 years without any promblems.
 
I do a 150 gallon water change in my 210 every week. I have the tank plumbed into the wall and fill the sump up with tap water. I put half the dechlorinator in the tank when it is halfway filled back up and the rest when it is full. I've been doing this for over 4 years with this tank with no problems. Small amounts of chlorine do not hurt the fish for short periods of time.

Same as posts above...add prime for the amount of water being replaced vs. the entire tank volume and fill it up...been doing it that way with my weekly water changes for over 5 years with no issues.
